The last two months have taught us that B hates the word poop, the living room is a better bedroom than our actual bedroom, the gas bill is begging us to run the heat less, Star Wars marathons are the best past time, and ignoring piles of dirty laundry is what we do best.
It has been a gooood two months. But don't get me wrong...there has definitely been some rough patches. Merging two selfish lives into one selfless marriage is tricky stuff... cuz let's face it, up until you get married, the majority of things that you do is to benefit yourself...what should I buy, what should I do. And now, all the sudden you're expected to turn the I to US?! Just like that?! That, my friends, is not done flawlessly. At least not for us! (and for you flawless couples out there, write a book about it, educate the world, and make millions). But hey! That's the fun part, learning and growing together, right?! And not to mention birth control...I literally started to cry at the thought of getting a dog. My emotions are crazy loco. Crazy loco, kids. You can imagine those rare (or not so rare) moments when B is wondering when his "cold hearted, non-emotional" woman turned into the mother of all womanly hormones herself. Yup, that's me.
But what I'm saying is this. I. LOVE. MY. HUSBAND. For all the happy times and hard times and frustrating times and funny times and baffling times and boring times and arguing times and sexy times and just all times, all the time. Happy two months Mr. Sanfy! Maybe after 5,000 years of marriage together we can write a book about how to have a flawless marriage and educate the world on all our attained knowledge and then make millions together. :)

Aye aye aye.
This week?
3 mid terms
2 group projects
1 paper
2 solo piano performances (freaking heck)
On top of work, dance rehearsals, classes, and being a wifey.
I've been kinda stressed, but decided to ditch the to-do list and go longboarding with my man. It's one of our favorite things to do, and now that the weather is warming up...how could I pass it up?! And of course we had to get dinner with the fam, then hit up Sammy's to curb my shake craving, and end the night with The Office.
That husband of mine...seriously the best to-do list distracter ever.

Blabbers about marriage.
First, you need to be warned. One because I'm doing this off of my phone which usually calls for at least 5 spelling errors. Just ignore those. And secondly, because this is just ramblings, raw and real. So, take it for what it is.
Before I got married, or engaged, or even dated, I always heard that marriage was hard. Ya, okay...marriage is hard. But what does that even mean to a girl who has never been married? I can say Romania was so heartbreaking, but you will never really understand exactly what I mean by that because you have never experienced exactly what I did. I can say that school is stressful, but you don't know exactly what "stressful" encompasses from my perspective. Simply because you. are. not. me. And I actually love that. That we are all unique and one-of-a-kind individuals. We all experience life in our own kind of way, and while that may seem lonely at times, I find it fascinating that I am me, and no one in history will ever live the life I live, or be the person that I am, except for me.
With that being said...lets go back to the "marriage is hard" thing. Obviously I thought I understood that marriage was hard before I got married, but it never had meaning or substance to me. But now that I'm married, I get it.
And the more I think about it, the more I hate that saying "marriage is hard". What does that even mean?! The word hard can be used to explain so many things. School is hard. Eating vegetables is hard. Jawbreakers are hard. Lifting 500 lbs is hard. Getting up in the morning is hard. Death is hard. Being addicted to ice cream is hard. The floor in my house is hard. Hard hard hard. It can be used in so many different ways with so many different meanings. So when someone says "marriage is hard", one might be referring to their husbands video game addictions. Or when someone says "marriage is hard" because the have a wife with a spending problem. Or someone might say "marriage is hard" because it's not rainbows and butterflies all the time. Or maybe they say it just because it is simply something different from what they are used to.
What is one even supposed to think when someone tells them that marriage is hard? I mean really, there can be a million interpretations. It's such an abstract concept for me.
But here's what I'm getting at, because I am me, and because my marriage is something that is 100% concrete and comprehensible to me, I'm going to interpret what "marriage is hard" has been for me personally. I am no expert at marriage, by any means, but I think what I'm experiencing is something that can be somewhat relatable to you newly weds out there. And for you singles, I'm hoping to enlighten your minds....I think marriage gets a bad rep with all this "marriage is hard" talk going on.
This is marriage to me.
1) not wanting to get up in the morning knowing you won't see your spouse until school and work is over -yup, that's hard for me.
2) merging his independent life and my independent life into one life - suddenly we have a person that needs to know where we are all the time, what money we spend, and what our day consists of -yup, hard.
3) he wants you to be happy, you want him to he happy....but sometimes, you can't have both. Someone has to sacrifice. Hard, hard, hard.
4) birth control gets the best of me - that's emotional wreck stuff I'm talking about. Hard.
5) we know each other so well, and because of that we make each other the happiest. But we also make each other the most frustrated and most sad, but also the most giggly and most fun. Hard? Sometimes.
6) marriage is so new, and heck, you're not good at it right off the bat. But I think we thought that we would be really great at it, right from the get-go. Why? Because we were good at love. And so we automatically assumed we should be good at marriage. And we weren't, and still aren't perfect- so that's hard.
7) it's so tempting to come home during Sunday school and eat food and lay on that mattress that's still in our living room and take a nap snuggling - wow...super hard.
7) it's so tempting to come home during Sunday school and eat food and lay on that mattress that's still in our living room and take a nap snuggling - wow...super hard.
And really, a million other things.
But seriously. Marriage is the best thing. All this hard talk is crazy. Ya, I can't deny that there's tricky days and crying eyes and frustrated sighs...but that's life. I think I automatically assume hard means bad. But hard is good. Remember that unique life stuff I was talking about earlier? Unique doesn't come from perfect lives, it comes from hard, crazy, funny, frustrating times that define who you are. And a unique marriage? Yup, comes from those hard, crazy, funny, frustrating times as well. But the best part? You have someone to share it with and you have something that defines the "us" aspect of your life.
So yes, marriage is hard. But what I think people mean by that is this...marriage is unique, it's something that can't be understood until its experienced, it's unexpected, it's emotional, its different for every human being, and you know what? Can't really be explained in a really long blogpost. And hey, if "hard" is the word we use to explain all that, then so be it. I'm not trying to change social norms here peeps! Just speaking my mind here, just speaking my mind. But remember, hard is good. No matter what "hard" encompasses.

The Office.
Somethings about Mr. Sanfy...
ONE: He laughs so easily. Everything makes him laugh.
TWO: He. has. the. best. laugh. ever. (and no, this isn't biased...even when we were just friends and dating other people I ALWAYS thought he had the worldest best laugh).
THREE: No show makes my boy laugh harder than The Office.
Somethings about me...
ONE: I also love The Office.
TWO: Nothing makes me laugh harder than when B is laughing super hard.
So...you can imagine how much laughter goes on at the Sanford residence as we are currently on an Office craze.
We have watched it every night for the past week.
And it's great because I acutally watch some of it before zonking out (it's impossible for me to stay awake during ANY kind of movie watching, ever).
And it helps that B won't let me shower, or wash my face, or brush my teeth until after I have watched at least an episode or two with him to guarentee that I'll stay awake...I can't sleep with makeup on my face, I'm scared my eyelashes will break off during the night. (Apparently that's why my mom has short eyelashes...because she used to sleep with makeup on. Weird. It has nothing to do with the fact that she's Asian...hmm).
Anywho...I'm loving this Office addition to our nights.
Except it's causing the mattress to become a permanent part of our living room furniture.
Oh well.
It looks best in there anyway.
Oh! and also.
B is convinced that Jim and Pam's relationship is the best love story out there. What? Has he never heard of Bella and Edward?
Ha.
He is also convinced that Steve Carrell is the nicest celebrity in all of history.
"Ah! And Steve Carrell is just so cool and nice!"
What? I'm pretty one thousand percent sure that B has never seen nor met Steve Carrell in his life.

Reminder: make a grocery list next time.
In an attempt to help me cross off some things on my to-do list, the boy offered to go grocery shopping for me.
Before leaving to dance rehearsal I yell to him, "don't forget to get spinach and fruit!"
................................
I come home from dance and am devouring the kitchen for something to eat.
"um...babe, what did you get at the grocery store?"
"um...spinach and fruit. Just like you said."
Ohhhh, that boy of mine.
I supposed I can only blame myself for this.
No grocery list?! What was I thinking?
Guess we're living off spinach and fruit for the next 2 weeks.
Cheers!

Got myself a piano man.
Three things you should know.
1. Our house is now the proud babysitter of an upright Yamaha piano for the next few years.
2. Yesterday I finally cashed in my high school graduation present from my parents and now have my very own copy of all my favorite piano books and sheet music that I have grown up playing for the last 15 years.
3. B's biggest regret in life so far is that he quit piano lessons.
So what?
Soooo....add those three things together and you get a husband with all this new music and an insane urge to get really really good at the piano.
It's 1:30 am and I'm laying on our mattress (which is still in our living room...right next to the piano) watching B practice a song, then brush his teeth, then practice his song again, then eat some food, then practice his song again, then get ready for bed, then practice his song again, then leave the room, then come back in with a torn face "Rik...I'm conflicted, I know I have to go to sleep...but I REALLY need to practice my song!"
Hahaha it was the cutest thing. No lie. It's funny to watch his face light up when he hits the right notes and hear him yell "did you HEAR that?!", when he does an especially good job.
I basically had to drag his butt to bed last night so we could both get some sleep....but I hope this phase lasts for a long long time. And so far so good. Tonight I have to teach dance from 5-10 and when he figured that out he said "ohhhh yaaaa...you know what I'll be doing all night, practicing my piano".
Practice on babe, practice on.

Happy one month to us!
In a month we've learned that we're bad at grocery shopping, B gets anxiety when I wear his shirts if we're eating, you can go a month without garbage bags, internet, or cable...but barely, and Sunday dinner at the parents is the best meal we get all week. It's been a good month.... can't wait for the rest of them and all the valuable knowledge they'll undoubtably bring.

I don't cook.
Pictures number 1 and 2 - texts between B and I on valentines day.
Picture number 3 - Me, the next day, pulling out every inch of cooking knowledge I have and showing B what's up. Seriously....it's like I became a chef over night or something. Hey-oh.
