The best present.

Just in case you weren't aware, my Grannie is a master quilter.
Like, insane amounts of talents in the quilting department.
And when I was about 10, she bought me a little quilting starter kit for Christmas.
So, I would spend many days and hours over at her house, working on my first quilt.
As I would sew, she would work on her own quilt right next to me.
I remember being little and eyeing that quilt of hers that she was working on.
I loved it so much.
Easily my favorite quilt that she has ever made.
She explained to me how there was no rhyme or reason to how she pieced the fabric together.
"you just pull a strip out of the bag and sew it, Rik!"
So I'd watch her piece together this elaborate quilt while I worked extra hard to make my dinky (and painfully simple) quilt look good.
Finally we both finished our quilts, I was ubber proud of mine. UBBER proud.
But I wanted hers. Like so bad.

Fast forward to 2014.
For 11 straight years (11 years!) I'd go to her house, see that quilt, and ask if I could have it.
"Nope!" was the only thing she ever said to me.
Hahaha so rude.
I wanted it more than anything! And it was just sitting on her couch doing nothing. NADA!
Plus she has like a bajillion quilts around her house.
argh, Grannie!
It's just that I had these awesome plans of putting that quilt in my first little girls room.
In my mind it would look freaking awesome.
And the sentiment..ah, can you imagine? from Grannie, to me, to her?! Just about kills you with emotion. I know.
ANYWAY.
Grannie came to my graduation dinner.
Everyone brought presents, remember?
Grannie hands me the one from her and the first thing out of my mouth?
"This better be that dang quilt I've been asking for for YEARS!"
Then I quickly apologized and assured her i'd love anything that was inside the bag.

You guys.
She gave it to me.
The quilt that I have wanted for my whole life!!!
IT WAS IN THE BAG!
I don't think I've ever been so happy.
Like sooooo happy!
This quilt has so much meaning to me.
I will forever cherish those days when I was little, watching my Grannie in awe as she made this quilt.
Not only do I love how it looks, but I love the memories behind it.

I know. I know.
I'm expressing my dying love for a QUILT.
It's totally whatever to you.
But it is by far, one of the best presents I have ever gotten.
I love it so much.

So thank you, Grannie!
For teaching me how to quilt.
For helping me every time I want to make a new one. (I think i've inherited your love of quilting...)
And for finally giving in and giving me the present of my dreeeaammmssss!
I love you!

bye bye luscious locks

One night, B and I had to be somewhere and he was going to come pick me so we could drive there together.
I get into the car and fliiiiiped.
Lover boy's hair was gone!
What the heck!
I had no idea.
He just did it.
And honestly, I'm not sure what made him do it.
I mean, about once a week he'd say something about cutting it, but I never thought he'd actually do it!
I thought I was going to be so sad when he finally cut it....
but honestly, he just looked SO HOT with his new do, it was hard to be angry.
Like really. Could he beeee any more good looking?

Helloooo swoon city!
Haha he was freaking all night.
Like I'm pretty sure he felt sick to his stomach that he just cut all his hair off.
He kept saying, "what did I do?!"
But I think part of him kinda loved it too.
He answered a phone call on our way to our interview and he looked at me with this amazed face and said, "Rik! The phone just went straight to my ear. I didn't have to flip my hair out of the way first! So weird!"
Hahaha. Funny kid.
I just kinda stared at him all night.
Checking him out, you know?
He really is so sexy.
Long hair or short.
But right now, I'm diggin' that short hair.
Like sooooo much!

And these pics.
Hahaha! Check out that hair!

Hope you all are having a happy Monday!

Graduation 2014

You guuuyzzz...
I did it.
I graduated!
It feels so good.
Like today, I just enjoyed my Sunday...homework free. Whaaat?!
It's really the best feeling ever.

This past semester was pretty great.
I feel like I loved all my classes and even though I had a bad case of senioritis, I ended with some good grades. (The hope of going to grad school is still alive and kickin, so I had to end strong!!)
But now..I'm in this weird crunch.
B is planning on dental school in about a year and a half.
So I'm like, might as well work full-time, right?
Unfortunately, you can't really get great jobs with just a bachelors in human development.
So I'm finding myself applying for all these jobs that I could have gotten without my college education.
They're all, "highschool diploma required"
I'm all, "why did I just spend thousands of dollars and hours on a college degree?!"
But hopefully, (hopefully!) it will all pay off in the end.
And I'm so grateful for my education.
and I love school you guys. Like looooove it.
So it's bittersweet to be done.
Bitter cuz now I have to work a 9-5 job. Gross.
Sweet because my nights are now homework freeeee!
Like, I have all this free time now.
I started reading the Elizabeth Smart book the other night.
And I just spent 12 hours of my life trying to beat that frick-frakin 2048 game.
I'm happy to announce that after a few (a lot) of throwing my face into the couch pillows, I have officially reached 2048!
So many accomplishments going on over here, I tell you.

Also, my mom MADE me do the whole graduating thing.
If I had it my way, I would have blown a kiss to good ol' Brigham Young and gone to get icecream.
But my mom wanted the piccy's, so I borrowed a gown with a cute 2013 tassel on it (thanks Eliza!) and sat through the commencement ceremony.
It was pretty dull dull dull. Except for when President Uchtdorf spoke...
Plus I got to sit by one of the greatest people ever, Steinia aka Stoner.
She was my roommate my freshman year of college, and it was great to start AND finish off BYU together.
We got pretty bored.
So I had to show her 2048. Obvi.

Thanks BYU for a great education and a seriously awesome 4-years.
I swear I just graduated high school last year.
AHHHH...
I'm like an old woman.

Also, did you know graduation is like a BIRTHDAY?
My whole fam went to California Pizza Kitchen right after graduation and I got so many presents!
It was the best thing!
So fam, thanks so much.
I said to my dad, "man...I need to graduate more often."
He's all, "ya, but you could have just bought yourself all these presents with one semester's worth of tuition".
HA!
So true.

So to all my friendy friends in college, keep going strong.
You may not be able to get an awesome job right off,
but you get presents aaaand it increases the amount of time you can spend playing 2048.

WATCH THIS!

B and I are giving talks tomorrow in church.
Easter Sunday.
What a great day to speak and share my testimony about Jesus Christ.
In looking for material for my talk, I came across this video.
I was holding back tears the whole time I was watching it!
I like stuff like that.
Stuff that makes me wanna cry because it's stuff that has so much meaning.
I know I don't share that kinda "stuff" too much on this blog of mine,
but it's a huge part of who I am.
and I need to share more of it.
I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I LOVE IT!
Watch this video.
I hope you feel as much gratitude and love for our Savior as I did when I watched it.

Have a Happy Easter my friends!

We are the Sanford's and we love to longboard.

Hi!
We can talk about how I suck at blogging lately...
or I can just hop to it!
So.....longboarding.
If you are a On the Reals reader, it should come as no surprise that B and I are lovers of the longboard.
Oh...YOU ARE TOO?
Great. Come with us!!!
Please!
(I'm serious)
We go like every other day, so I'm sure we could make something work :)

Anyway, last night a bunch of us got together to cruise down the canyon and it was the best thing!
I really didn't have time for it... #finalsweek
And I had to wake up waaaaay too early this morning to makeup for the study time I lost.
But it was so worth it!
Always a good time with these peeps.

Also, my friend Scotty put together this sweeto burrito video of us!
Check it out cuz it's so kool.

^^ and also, this picture.
Makes me laugh every time I look at it!
I snapped it as I cruised by and I caught the face of pure happiness.
Like a kid in a candy store right there.
Hahaha too good!

Happy Friday Amigos!
I graduate in a few days.
Like, done with college forever, type of graduating.
I know.
Whaaaat?
So weird.

BYE!

Stuff like this...

Ya...he tells me he loves me all the time.
At least 5 times a day, I'm sure of it.
But it's the little stuff like this that I see on the counter as I'm grabbing my keys and heading out the door to meet him over at the sand dunes that make my whole body super happy and gives me reason to skip, yes skip, to the car.
