Got myself a piano man.

Three things you should know.

1. Our house is now the proud babysitter of an upright Yamaha piano for the next few years.

2. Yesterday I finally cashed in my high school graduation present from my parents and now have my very own copy of all my favorite piano books and sheet music that I have grown up playing for the last 15 years.

3. B's biggest regret in life so far is that he quit piano lessons.

So what?

Soooo....add those three things together and you get a husband with all this new music and an insane urge to get really really good at the piano.

It's 1:30 am and I'm laying on our mattress (which is still in our living room...right next to the piano) watching B practice a song, then brush his teeth, then practice his song again, then eat some food, then practice his song again, then get ready for bed, then practice his song again, then leave the room, then come back in with a torn face "Rik...I'm conflicted, I know I have to go to sleep...but I REALLY need to practice my song!"

Hahaha it was the cutest thing. No lie. It's funny to watch his face light up when he hits the right notes and hear him yell "did you HEAR that?!", when he does an especially good job.

I basically had to drag his butt to bed last night so we could both get some sleep....but I hope this phase lasts for a long long time. And so far so good. Tonight I have to teach dance from 5-10 and when he figured that out he said "ohhhh yaaaa...you know what I'll be doing all night, practicing my piano".

Practice on babe, practice on.

Thank you Mr. Presidents.

One big ol' shout out to Mr. Lincoln and Mr. Washington.
A day off in your behalf is the best possible way to celebrate.
And this is how we did it.
Celebrate, that is.

I haven't been snowboarding in ages...and I'm like reeeallllly not that good.
But it was a great day, with great friends!
(Thanks Joshua and Shelbs for hookin me up).
Minus the "get my snowboard caught under B's while getting off the ski lift on our last run resulting in a bruised butt and a cracked head and the reason for the stopped ski lift" incident.
You stopped the ski lift, Rik?!
I stopped the ski lift.

But I deserved it.
"B! Did you see those S turns?...yup, naaaailed em!" (insert fist pump here)
"You guys, I swear it....I seriously think I became a professional snowboarder over night, it's crazy."
"Hahahahahaha! You biffed it off the ski lift!"
"I can't believe I haven't fallen yet, this is unreal, unreal!"
"Gosh, I am the best snowboarder I know."

Actually said out loud?
Or just in my head?
I can't remember.
Knowing me, I probably voiced it alllllll.
Point is...
 I had it coming.
Oh karma, you filthy animal.

Happy one month to us!

In a month we've learned that we're bad at grocery shopping, B gets anxiety when I wear his shirts if we're eating, you can go a month without garbage bags, internet, or cable...but barely, and Sunday dinner at the parents is the best meal we get all week. It's been a good month.... can't wait for the rest of them and all the valuable knowledge they'll undoubtably bring.

I don't cook.

Pictures number 1 and 2 - texts between B and I on valentines day.

Picture number 3 - Me, the next day, pulling out every inch of cooking knowledge I have and showing B what's up. Seriously....it's like I became a chef over night or something. Hey-oh.

The day of lovers.

I have always loved Valentines day.
And now that I'm married, I can say that I love it even more.
This is Mr. Sanfy's and I's (is that correct grammar?!) second Valentines Day together.
Last years was spent apart as he worked and I studied for a midterm.
Then when we finally met up at 11:00 at night and I accidentally called him one of my ex-boyfriends name.
Smooth.
As amazing as last year's was...this year was bound to be a little better.
aaaand you know what?
It was.
Leaps and lightyears better!
Despite the fact that I had to study for and take a midterm (I swear, midterms always end up on Lover's Day...as if school is more important than love. riiiiight), B still managed to make the day an amazing one.

Woke up to this...

Then found a love note in my car.
Then walked into work to find this...

Then had lunch together at CPK with the mum and dad. Obviously we ordered the Valentines special.

After class, studying, and midterm taking was over, I ran to Costa Vida to get us take out.
Only to come home to this...

We ate under our little canopy of lights, enjoyed candy hearts and played the game of "who can make the longest sentence out of these".
I won longest sentence.
Blake one best sentence.

Blake was also determined to set up surround system in our living room to give our movie watching the best qualilty, top notch experience ever.
So I opted for a nap on the couch while he assembled it all.
Two hours later I woke up to blasting music, wires all over, and one proud and happy husband.

So then we pulled out our mattress...

Made a heart shaped cazookie ("riiiiik, it's called a PAzookie, like a pizza cookie!" -Blake), and then watched Monster's Inc. together.
Does anyone remember how freaking witty and funny that movie is?!

G-rated version: and then we laughed and cuddled and kissed the night away.
Non-G-rated version: come on kids...it was Valentines Day for the newlyweds.

Needless to say, our day was capital Gee-double oh-double oh-double oh-Dee.
GOOOOOOD.

Gosh, I love that Valentine of mine.

Hope your day was equally as great.
Yay for love.

THE cake{s}.

The cakes. Easiest thing of my life!

1. Because I already knew what I wanted.
2. Because I knew a girl that could make it happen.
3. That girl makes cakes that are yummy, pretty, AND cheap. (can you say boo-ya?)

So without further ado, the cake, the other cake, and the other cake.

Serious perfection.
We had a chocolate nutella one.
A vanilla strawberry one.
And a lemon one.
Unfortunety, I only got to try the lemon one... and I suppose "try" is used very loosly here as Mr. Sanfy and I didn't get much cake in our actual mouths. But I heard nothing but good things about how yummy they were, and I can't wait to crack open that lemony goodness on our one-year anniversary. (Does freezing it really work? Sounds a little crazy loco to me).

Good news! If you are in need of a cake maker for any occasion, you can contact Annie @ 801-319-8739. She is the sweetest thing and sooooo easy to work with.
(ps...this is not paid advertising of ANY sort. Just me, sharing this awesome chica with the world...I can't hold her goodness in any longer!)

Also. Blake, my dad, and I (but mostly my dad, if we're being honest here), made the log cake stands that you see in the pictures. Since we're not planning on getting married ever (ever) again, someone else needs to put these babies to use! Contact me @ erikamlaws{at}gmail{dot}com if you are interested.

So, that's about it!
Eat cake kids, eat cake.
It's good for you.
So fetchin' good.

But wait.

First, look at me with this knife.
So scary.
So fetchin' scary.

THE engagement pics.

Let me tell you.
I have ALWAYS wanted to get married in the winter.
Don't ask me why, but something about the cold just gets me.
(and something about not wanting to be a sweat ball in the summer standing in the receiving line outside (because if you get married in the spring or summer you HAVE to have your reception outside, duh) hugging all my friends and family while apologizing for the hot weather and sweaty armpits as my wedding makeup slowly drips off my face).
No thank you.
It's just that I have an abnormal body that loves to overheat like allllll the time.
Can you say sweat fest?
So basically a winter wedding is perfect.
Except for the picture taking part.
I was nervous about this.
Let's be honest...a tree full of blossoms looks a heck of a lot prettier than a dead tree in the winter.
Luckily, we got a bomb photographer that made us look good, even in the frigid cold.
(I'm serious you guys....B and I were numb, numb, numb by the time we were done).
So one big fat THANK YOU to Alixann Loosle Photography...
you make dead trees look good and freezing people look warm as a snickerdoodle straight out of the oven.

How about a picture overload?
Check.
See you tomorrow!
We're talking wedding cakes.
Ekkkk!
