HBD Lush!

Yesterday my BFF turned 24.
We're slowly getting old and it's freaking us out.
But whatevs.
One day we'll have ten kids and wrinkles and bomb lives with 50 years behind us and we won't even care how old we are.

Yesterday, B and I had to give Lush a lesson on fractions and multiplication and it just made me so happy for some reason.

B: So what's two times two?
Lush: Four.
B: WHAT?!
Lush: I meant five.

Ya,  Lush is growing up...but she still needs my help with simple math, so we're basically still those girls that found each other in 4th grade and were instant besties.

Happy birthday, baby girl! I love you!

Hey you, I appreciate you.

A few weeks ago, I started feeling really anxious.
I don't want to get into too much detail, but in sum, I had this deep urge to be a better person, especially when it comes to my beliefs.
A lot of things in this world are changing and it seems as if worldly standards are veering further from my own personal beliefs.
It kind of hit me like a ton of bricks that I can't just cruise through life or I'll drift in the direction of the world.
Yes, I may be making right choices and living a good life, but in that moment, I realized that it wasn't enough.
So I had a freak out moment, like...
"BLAKE! the world is coming to an end! We can't just be chillin!"
and, "Omgeeee, how are we going to raise kids in this world!"
and, "AHH we have so many things we need to work on!"

I'm so happy a married a person who listened to my freak out and first said "Rik, you're a really really good person", but also said, "Okay, what do we need to work on?"

In that moment, the only thing that came to mind was, "we need to be on time to church!" haha cuz we're bad at that and it seemed like a good place to start.

But really, we've made some goals and we've been doing really good at them and it makes me so happy and it's totally increased the quality of our marriage.
Seriously, I'm way obsessed with B lately, like more than usual.
And I just know it's because he get me, and listens to me, and helps me when I have weird freak outs. It's nice having a person to work on stuff and share goals with.

Anyway.
B....I love you and appreciate you.
So much.

Spring Break 2015

For Spring Break, B and I decided to just get away.
It had been a crazy busy year with his school and my work/dance schedule.
Being on the Jazz, it's hard to take vacations.
I mean, we're allowed time off, but the stress of missing practice (and having to learn all the dances from a video taken on an iphone and sent to you via text and having them perfectly learned by the time you show up to the next practice) is just SOO stressful!
Like, beats the purpose of even going on vacation. You feel?

Sadly, Spring Break landed on the last week of the Jazz season.
So I didn't get to dance at the last games, and get thank-you flowers, and do our end of year "solo" stuff.
Which was okay (at the time) because I thought I was going to do Jazz for one more season. (but totally turns out, i'm not! - more on that later).
aaaaand they had some random blonde chick do my solo part at the game.
So if you happened to be at that game and the announcer said "Rikiiiii Saaaanfooorrd!",
and some tiny-sized, blonde chick came out and did a solo...I'm sure you put two and two together and realized that that DEFINITELY wasn't me :)

Lucky, Vegas and California were just. so. good. that I was sad about missing Jazz stuff for about point five seconds.
B and I hit up Vegas for a few days (man I love free time with my man, we laughed and ate and shopped and napped and loved every second of it!) then we headed to California where we met our good friends Mitchy and Meggy.

I feel like I post about California a lot (too much?).
Too many beach pics.
Is that a thing?
They say too much of a good thing is a bad thing.
I say too much of the beach is just good for the soul.

Anyway.
This vacation was a real good one.
Now, enjoy a crizapp load of pictures.
^^B is a lover of frisbee and I'm soooo bad at it! I think one of his life goals is to make me a good frisbee partner.
^^ one of our favorite things to do in California is house hunt. We found the sweetest house this time right next to the sweetest secret garden type thing and it was all just so sweet.

 ^^Meggy's hair looks bomb.
^^ we tried to do a shoulder sit for a picture and literally fell over cuz I guess we're really uncoordinated people when it comes to shoulder sits and stuff.
Grateful for good friends and fun vacations.

Have a happy weekend, friends!

The Earnest's are Adopting!

You guys.
One of my dear friends, Julie, and her family are looking to adopt.
They are an amazing, tight knit, spiritual, and stupidly talented and good looking family.
Which immediately makes me like, "oooohh, you want more kids? Fiiiine you can take Me and B in."

But in all seriousness, I've experienced, first-hand, how amazing this family is.
I've also seen a glimpse into the trials they have faced regarding fertility.
They want another family member so bad.
And while it breaks my heart that they can't have another one of their own, it also makes me extremely grateful for adoption and the chance they have to take in a special baby and make it their own.

If you know of anyone who is looking for a great family, please tell them to check out the Earnest's adoption profile!
Or if you just want a cuteness overload, go check it out yourself.
or visit http://adoption.com/profiles/julieearnest-3521

Thanks for reading, kiddos!
And please spread the word!
and also have a great weekend. (woot woot!)

Mitchy + Meggy

Blake's best friend got married last weekend.
His name is Mitch.
Which makes their celebrity couple name BLITCH.
No lie, B and Mitchy are the best of friends.
I remember when I was dating B, he'd call me to tell me he was coming over and it was NEVER a surprise when I opened the door to see both Blakers AND Mitch.

Anyway, you can imagine our excitement when Mitch started bringing Meggy around more and more.
It's cool to see such a good friend fall in love.
And even cooler when you love the girl he picked.
Since we hangout alllll the time, I can't imagine what if would be like if I didn't vibe with whoever Mitch married.
So it's great news that Meggy is now one of my best friends.
GAH I LOVE HER.
And their whole day was basically perfect.
The weather was insanely awesome for a February wedding,
and everyone was just HAPPY.
The temple is my favorite part of any wedding.
All the happiness and tears and all that eternity talk just really warms my soul.
And of course the reception was a party.
At the end of the night I told B I felt guilty cuz I ate 5 sandwiches.
But then he told me he ate 15, so then I didn't feel too bad.
And this right here is one of my favorite pictures ever.
I snuck it a few minutes before the reception started.
B and Mitchy were just sitting there, chatting and laughing about who knows what.
Like there wasn't a care in the world.
Just them being them.
So cute.
Man, I love these guys so much.
Thanks for being such a good friend to my hubby, Mitch! And thanks for picking such a solid woman to marry.
WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!

Rent-A-Puppy

I want a dog so bad.
Like I'm obsessed.
I look at the KSL dog ads everyday.
I might exaggerate some things, but that, ^ up there ^, is a through and through true statement.
Me and KSL. Every. Day.
Unfortunately, our landlords *cough* mom *cough cough* dad, won't let us get one.
Which is just straight evil, if you ask me.
We're so grateful to live in their basement apartment and they are the most giving people I know...
Sure, they're not evil, but their anti-dog campaign, is.
Fortunately, they really only have one reason why they don't want me to get a dog.
Their reason? They just don't want me to get a dog!
But I can feel my persuasion skills starting to slowly knock down those walls of theirs.
Unfortunately, it's a thick wall.
I have a feeling by the time I actually knock down their wall and convince them to be pro-puppy, I'll be 30 years old with my own house and 12 dogs.

In the meantime, I just take advantage of Rent-A-Puppy, a business that literally lets you rent a dog for 1-4 hours.
It's pretty loco if you really think about it.
You're paying someone to take care of their dog.
I should start a Rent-A-Kid business someday.
Let people pay me when they wanna babysit my kiddos for 1-4 hours. :)

Anyway.
Weird or not, I love it.
And I'm a total sucker for the "15% off your next puppy rental!" emails they send me.
Freaking heck.
